Hi started cycle 2 on Monday.. feeling tired Zzz!! And mood isn’t a good a last week, I’ve to get ct scan next week as plural effusion wasn’t changed much , praying it’s just fluid as they have sd all along ! Does the tiredness change at all ? Had tumour removed in March and 26 lymph nodes clear

so lucky but nervous about lung ct scan.. what if it’s spread ...

  • Hi

Probably not the one to answer as I was purely on the sidelines looking on . My mum had chemo over two years and the second cycle was always her worst . No idea why but it was and 3 rd and 4 th eased a bit . Everyone is obviously different but keep talking to your team as they like to keep it manageable over the long term and sometimes need to make some adjustments.

The build up to a scan I think is particularly draining . You will see a lot of people post a few days before them .

Our helpline staff could possibly reassure you a bit about the pleural infusion . 0808 808 0000. I have heard of them assisting it by draining it . Macmillan has some info on it but you could talk it through with the nurses and I am sure you will find it helpful and reassuring .

I do remember my mum doing a lot of sleeping !

    Take care ,

    Court

  • Thank you court , reassuring to know cycle 3 maybe better, I’m positive all will be well, apart from last couple days I’ve been fine

sooner ct scan is over the better lol

    take care

Hi Stoma girl sorry to hear you feel so tired on your second cycle. Do you walk at all? Just asking as I was never a walker before and since my diagnosis last year and since starting on chemo, I walk everyday now and I find it really helps physically. Ofcourse we are all different, but just sharing what helped me feel better. I am also in tomorrow for CT results as I was a bit anaemic on last blood tests. Keeping everything crossed for tomorrow! Only had the tumour removed in January, surely it cannot have returned! The waiting is not easy, I agree. Take care, hope the tiredness gets better! Best wishes. Pray

  • Hello Stomagirl,

I am on my first course and I'm not coping very well. I had five nights of very little sleep and just felt ill with tiredness. So wonderful when I slept for a full night! Added to this I had constipation for three days that sorted followed by diarrhea! Yesterday trapped wind that is unbelievably painful and debilitating...Basically bed ridden, just hoping today I can get up and at least go for a walk. Being outside is so much better. I hope all goes well for you. I am just hoping to cope with another five days of pill taking and so looking forward to the week off! Dreading the thought of another seven cycles.

We will all get through this, we have to keep positve and make the most of the days when we feel able  to be active and do more positive things. We know that there is al ot of support from family and friends and this forum is great to share our honest thoughts and worries with people who are going through exactly the same thing and know exactly what it is like. It's like the lottery we are in it together!

  • Hi rose2020

just started walking last couple weeks, not a walker before chemo either ! But I do enjoy it, this 2nd cycle has knocked feet from me ,tired no energy, but eating and drinking well , aw I hope evPrayything went ok when you got results PrayPray
    All the best

  • Hey Catsski my first cycle had me fooled lol ! Hopefully things will improve.. just feeling yuck and down , no real physical symptoms to be honest, aww I really hope you feel better soon , I’m on capecitabine twice day ,and they have increased it 125 mg cos I gained weight, it’s nice to talk to people who know exactly wt you mean!

  • Hello Stomagirl,

I'm on capecitabine twice daily, but have no appetite ,eating is a chore. I was determined to go for daily walks as I am actually a regular walker but this last week just wanted to curl up and hibernate! It's heartening to know that your coping much better.I'm hoping that the next ten days will be better and that I can have a more normal routine.

How many courses will you be having? I had my surgery at the end of March with  22 lymph nodes removed of which 4 were cancerous.I was hoping for 3 courses of chemo but never anticipated 8! I'll be interested to see how you progress. I was so positive when I started but have gone into rapid decline....I don't know about you, but all my friends and family are so confident that I will sail through this, as I am regarded as the fit energetic one....so I feel that I am letting them down. Silly I know, but feel I have got to get a grip.... Perhaps tomorrow...Nothing can prepare us for this and although I want to be'fabulous', it is so hard when it is an effort even to get out of bed!

I'll be thinking of you as you are just a couple of weeks ahead of me.Good luck!

Thank you yes today went ok. nothing found / nothing new from CT scan thank heavens. Doctor did mention that they want to carry out an MRI over next 2 weeks as when I had my op in Jan,, a tiny spot was seen on liver so they want to take another look as a precaution. 5th cycle of capecitebane starting on Monday so I will enjoy the weekend before it all! Hope you are feeling better and continue to improve as you progress through the cycles. Have a lovely weekend!

  • Hi catsski , I’m on 8 cycles too , had op beginning of March ..9th.. removed T3/4 tumour .. I was taken in as they thought it was my kidney had massive infection Expressionless!! To be told 12 hrs later it’s cancer ! Took out all tumour and 26 lymph nodes all clear !! But of a shock .. I had pleural effusion so had to hold bk chemo till it improved, I’m finding capecitabine ok .. no loss of appetite, but nausea and diarrhoea occasionally, I’ve felt that this week , like curl up and sleep ZzzI get the same feeling from family.. you will be great !! And soo positive and when the day isn’t good it’s bit disappointing for them , as you say nothing can prepare you for this , but we will support each other through this ,good days and bad ! I’m back walking next week, also learning to live with a stoma ! That’s fun lol

thinking of you too , all the best Heart
