Cancer is a very Personal Journey.

This site has been of invaluable help to me throughout my cancer journey..over the past two years - for advice & Support. Although my last CT scan declared me cancer free...I will always remain wary & worried about it returning, I had another CT Scan yesterday...so will be worried for the next two weeks - till I get the results.

I still read Posts everyday...& sometimes answer; hopefully with some advice - pertaining to my own experiences. However, I have reached the conclusion that our cancer journeys are all very individual -  & sometimes not all questions can be answered adequately here. That's when you have to relate/rely more on your medics.

I have seen posts asking for advice about diet. What to eat before or after an Op/ during Chemo. So difficult to answer. For me, I never changed my diet pre/post Surgery...or during Chemo. I simply ate what I wanted to.

Two years following my left Hemicolectomy....My Bowel movements are what I assume are 'normal' right now. However, both eggs & coffee can bring on diarrhoea for me. I had a boiled egg today & spent most of the day on the loo! No idea why...I'm just used to it. Obviously, when approx. 12" of your bowel has been removed - whatever you eat or drink goes through you a lot quicker than it did before.

  • Great points as ever . At points there is just no substitute for experience or the medical profession. We can share , care and support as best we can but certainly has its limitations.

It certainly picked me up and helped me strengthened to the task that lay ahead . Helped reduce the fears around a lot of the procedures and reduced the sense of loneliness.

Hope your scans bring good news !
