I have been diagnosed with bowel cancer and I'm having surgery at the beginning of June to fit a temporary colostomy bag and will be followed by having chemo.
I told my employer that I will be off from the 6th June and I don't know how long I will be off for. They said that I will only be entitled to SSP, which I think is about £19 a day, that won't even cover my rent let alone other bills. My wife earns minimum wage.
Is there any benifits that I could claim to help me out when I'm off as I'm worried about facing financial hardship when I should be worried about getting better.
Thanks
