Hi everyone I've just come back on here after 8yrs c free so far!

I would like to know if anyone has bladder problems years after radiotherapy.

I've been suffering with bladder pain for years now on and off, although I'm lucky I'm still here so feel I shouldn't complain about it.

But I get a lot of uti pain, has anyone else had this?

Or any advice would be appreciated thank you.

  • Hi Chocolatefudge, great to hear that you are 8 years free since the treatment, sorry about the bladder. I had five weeks of chemo radiotherapy this time 2 years ago and it definitely affected my uretha. When I had the LAR a while after the radiotherapy they struggled to get a catheter in place so I went off to a urologist afterwards who did a cystoscopy and I saw that the inside of the tube looked like a well furred up domestic pipe. He said the damage would have been caused by the radiotherapy. So there is a possibility that your problem may be caused by it.

Other than that I have not had any pain, just increased frequency. I know you say that you shouldn't complain but if you are having a problem you really should get it checked out, it may be something totally unrelated.

    All the best, John
