Hi all had my surgery last Wednesday I had my sigmoid colon and tumour removed it’s left a large hole on my tummy that’s packed and very sore, but he removed the cancer so I’m pleased about that.

Hi HazG.... I'm having an operation to remove Cancer from my Bowel/Colon on Monday and go into Hospital tomorrow. ...I am alone and panicking and have been able to stop crying all the time ...I'm a 53 year old man and used to play Rugby till I was 38.....I thought I was tough but this has just crippled me.....I'm glad everything is OK with you and I hope you have a complete recovery and go on to have a happy healthy life from now.....Sorry for bothering you
Hi Houfey
Just want to welcome you to the forum . You are not a bother at all . It is totally understandable to feel concerned . Hopefully others will be around to offer some insight as a carer I can’t do that but I can assure you my mum went through a bowel resection at 67 and recovered very well from it . It has not actually caused her any issues since then and that was back in 2010 .
This is something the surgeons carry out on a weekly based . So I they are able to support you . Tell the staff when you arrive tomorrow how you are feeling and I hope they can assist you .
You will be in recovery before you know it cancer free and ready to rebuild your life .
Take care ,

Court thank you so much for your reply and kind words....sometimes all it needs is someone to talk to who knows what you are going through.....fear of the unknown is a terrible thing and overwhelming at times......I'm so glad to hear your Mum is doing so well and hope she has many more years with you.....thank you once again for your kind words and thoughts
Hi Houfey and a warm welcome to the board from me. It’s a horrible shock isn’t it but it sounds like they’ve moved quickly and the tumour will soon be in the bin. I’d never been in hospital before my op but things were well managed and I was well looked after.
Please don’t apologise for how you’re feeling. I didn’t know anyone with Bowel cancer before I was diagnosed but this board and the Bowel cancer uk one got me through and I also made friends for life. You can ask anything you want on here - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing - or just have a cry/moan/rant - we’ll support you through all of it.
Please post again soon and let us know how you’re doing when you can?
Take care

Hope you feel Better soon HazG. I had an anterior resection done on 11th Jan to remove a tumour obstructing my colon. Luckily, I did not need a stoma fitted. I am home recovering after a week now. Eating better now my appetite is back but remembering to consume in very small portions! So glad to be back home with my kids. And I feel very lucky to have had the operation, it was very stressful thinking it would be cancelled or postponed!
I am also waiting for telephone appt with oncologist as my surgeon suggested as i am only 45, to have a session (or something like that) of chemo. I have no idea how much / how so will wait to hear and will definitely be going for it.
Take care, hope your recovery is not too painful. Take it easy, rest up.
