Hi

Recently had a colonoscopy which revealed an

ill-defined white plaque covered lesion.  Has anyone had any thing described like this.  It sounds as if it bad news and all the information I can find seems to suggest it's likely to be cancer.  I had a positive FIT test that prompted the colonoscopy plus I had very low B12 which suggested a bleed.  Looking for some reassurance that maybe it's not as bad as it feels and with possibly 3 weeks to wait for biopsy results it feels so dark.

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum . Did the person doing the colonoscopy give any feedback?  Certainly people come through here with many symptoms that turn out not to be cancer . But they quickly move on as expected ! The colon can bleed due to other benign reasons so the histology is the only sure way to know . But hold on tight as many come back and report all is well . Hopefully you will be one of them .

    Hi court

I was still a bit drowsy when they were giving me the results. They said there was this lesion I asked what that meant and they just said it was like a wound and I just didn't ask any thing else.  I did call the unit the next day but they couldn't tell me anything. All I can read about being ill-defined seems to suggest that's it's aggressive as compared to well defined and being non aggressive.

  • Hi

The colon is complex to interpret. They have drawn up a classification to help this called the Paris classification. They interpret many aspects of it from size , depth , borders etc .
They look at many features and back that up with histology.

The other thing to remember is colon cancer caught early is very , very treatable. We would be here to support you through that process until we are all firmly in your review mirror .
However I hope that is not the case for you .
