Hi, my husband had a colostomy surgery and have stoma bag. After 5days in hospital then he came home now for 3 day and the hiccups is continuing badly. Fist night at home he manage to get 1 hour sleep. The second night he only had 40 mins sleep. Most of the time he was trying to sit and walking around but the hiccups still continuing badly about 10-12 times per mins or 5-6 times when he feel better. Phoned GP he said nothing he can do and sorry he couldn’t help. Doesn’t anyone have any advice on how to get rid of the hiccups because he stay on without sleeping. His health is getting worse now. He is 70 years old.
Sorry about my English. I really hope to have any advice from you.
Many thanks
Welcome to the forum .
That sounds really uncomfortable and exhausting. I think his surgical team would want to know about that as they don’t like too much pressure on the abdomen. If you use the search function ( little magnifying glass at the top right ) you will see it come up a bit . But I think the length of time he has been enduring it his team would want to know .
If you can get a hold of his surgeon or surgeons secretary I would give it a go . We also have a helpline number 0808 808 0000. They might be able to give you some guidance .
Hope he gets a solution soon .
