Hi hope you are all ok.
My Dad just had gamma knife treatment for some bits that were found on his brain again.
Then yesterday the doctor phoned to talk about his latest body scan. Thay said the chemo this time had no worked as well as they liked.
I don't know much details apart from that as Dad doesn't like to ask for many details, I have not found the hospital to be very helpful whenever I've rang to ask so I just try to make sense of it with what I have really.
The first time Dad had chemo it worked well there was a lot of shrinkage ( in bowel, liver and lungs )
Then it spread to his brain which was removed in an op.
Then this latest round of chemo.
Then the gamma knife to deal with more bits on brain.
Now after this scan we are told its not worked as well as they would of liked.
We're not sure what excatly that means, weather its grown or just not shrank much or at all.
I don't know what chemo Dad is on or if its the same as his first round. I'm trying to stay positive. Dad has a appointment on next week to talk with his doctor.

Hi
I have linked in a booklet from Bowel cancer U.K. on treatment options and protocols for stage 4 bowel cancer . When they give chemo they also keep a close eye on the tumour markers CEA if they start to rise and the scan maybe shows some growth even minimal they might have enough concern to think the cancer has grown resistant to that particular chemo . They then consider a new treatment plan where possible . Bowel cancer has a few chemo options . A patient starts on first line chemo but there is second and sometimes third line chemo . The oncologist will look at your dads information from his biopsy and know the best approach.
They are particularly skilled in these areas . They will review his case and come up with a new plan where possible .
Take care ,
