Hi everyone,

I hope you don’t mind us posting here today. We wanted to let you know ahead of time about some changes that will be happening to the group layout in this group this Friday 15th January.

We had a lot of feedback from our members concerned about how the new site is to navigate for newcomers and other members of the Community. We listened to this feedback and have been testing a new layout in the Breast Cancer forum.

This week more changes have been made to the following groups;

We’ve seen good results, particularly from new members coming to the site for the first time and introducing themselves to find support.

The new layout in the breast cancer forum can be seen below next to the first red arrow.

Underneath the new layout you will see a list of all the latest discussions, shown above by the second red arrow. This is similar to how the group discussions has worked recently.

We have involved our Community Champions in the process, to make sure the layouts for each group are fitting. For this group the decision is to change to three main headings:

  • New here – A place for people new to the group to introduce themselves.
  • Diagnosis – A space for members to talk about anything and everything related to cancer diagnosis.
  • Treatment and Chat – This is an area for conversations about treatment, more general chat about anything within the Community Guidelines, and a place where people can create and update milestone threads.

Our members are at the heart of everything we do. These changes are part of our commitment to continue to improve the site as a place of comfort and support for people affected by cancer.

We know change can be difficult. No changes to the site are irreversible if we don’t find them to be working. We base our assessments of success on a range of factors, such as how many people are able to find and access support.

Any questions and general feedback is welcome too and we encourage you to let us know by emailing us at Community@macmillan.org.uk or filling in Macmillan’s feedback form here. We can’t always keep on top of comments in threads on the site due to the sheer volume of active discussions.

Kind regards

Macmillan Community Team
