*****My hubby and i went to see my surgeon today it’s definitely bowel cancer it’s a bit rare as it’s growing out of my mucus fistula so tumour on my tummy and some inside so I’m going to be having surgery on 7th of jan to remove it all so I’ll just be left with my Rectum and tiny bit of colon.
might be followed by chemotherapy shot course just to blast anything that’s maybe left.
Ovary was a cyst small so he thinks they are going to leave it if they decide otherwise after MRI tomorrow then that will come out too.
So I’m just getting my head around everything at the moment *******
Hi all I’m new here now where do I start I was admitted to hospital last year with sepsis and what ended up been a perforated bowel I was in a very bad way my family were told I wouldn’t make it through the night surgeon didn’t want to operateecide as he thought he would lose me,but after some discussion I was rushed to surgery had an extended right hemicolectomy ended up with an ileostomy and mucus fistula five months in hospital and rehab.
18 months on I started having problems with my fistula it started to grow something on the outside which I thought was over granulation so did my stomach nurse I was sent to my surgeon who said he ever seen anything like it this was six weeks ago I had biopsy done showed inconclusive so off for a ct scan which showed a suspicious spot behind my fistula and my right ovary enlarged ,
i have had a flexi sigmoid but could only get up six inches of my remaining colon I only have a small amount left ! That was clear as was rectum I went back to surgeon last week he told me I had high grade dysplasia in colon? I said is that cancer he said more than likely and it’s also in your ovary so he said he would remove the rest of my bowel but it’s going to be difficult.
i feel all over the place 18 months ago they went inside me four times everything removed was tested no cancer at all even surgeon was shocked. I’m off for a pelvic mri Friday which I’m not looking forward too.
sorry post is so long I just wanted to explain everything
Hi HazG,
Welcome onto the site, I have found it very helpful, and there is the ask a nurse section which may help you also.
I am so sorry to hear what you have gone through and how long you had to stay in the hospital. It seems like you need more information from your team about what is going on. I had a right hemicolectomy for a stage 3 tumour, last November and unfortunately the cancer has now returned in my bowel and a few places in my pelvis. My surgeon was shocked also. Can you contact your doctor or specialist nurse for more details. I know when I had my apts I didn't always take everything in, probably due to shock. I took my sister with me last time and I asked all the questions I had written down and she took notes.
I hope you will find out more after you have the MRI.
I haven't had one of those yet, but I believe they will give you headphones to wear with calming music and you get let them know if you are uncomfortable.
Kind wishes to you and wishing you strength to get you through this difficult time.
Xx
Thanks for replying the MRI is for my ovary it’s enlarged I have an appointment tomorrow with my surgeon I think a plan will be discussed.
its such a worrying time isn’t it
xxxx
Hi HazG
Welcome to the forum from me too. What a time of it you have had . That was such a long time to be in hospital.
Such a lot for you to process as I am sure they would have inspected the colon well when they were in there too!
Hope you get more information soon but feel free to join in any discussion and ask anything you like . We are all here to share and help where possible .
take care ,

Hi HazG,
That is positive that they can operate and good to know what you are dealing with. Sorry to hear that you will have chemotherapy, but like you say it will only be a short course to get rid of any remaining cells. Have you had chemo after your other surgeries. Hopefully your ovary will turn out to be a cyst like they said and can be dealt with at the same time. Good luck with your MRI tomorrow. Let me know how it goes please as I have never had one before and I may have to.
Kind thoughts to you and your hubby,
MRI today absolutely fine was in about 40 minutes but it went quick not too. Noisy
