Can anyone help me here, I’m waiting for my scans which are in two weeks. Court has been so helpful towards me and a lot of others. It will be 8 weeks post chemo tablets  and radiotheraphy. Has anyone had curative success with just this treatment or is it mostly surgery after.

    Hello Nelly

My understanding is that it usually helps to shrink the cancer and make it easier to remove with less risk of it spreading. Sometimes people have a complete response if the tumour was small to start with but even then you go on a watch and wait regime of regular scans and colonoscopies as there is a risk of it coming back. So yes it is usually surgery after. I think you should go in mentally prepared for surgery and then if it is not required then you can be pleasantly surprised.

I always prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

    Hi Nelly,

Hope you are ok. I am waiting to have my scan too. I am going on Monday. I am feeling very nervous but I have prepared myself for an operation as this is what my oncologist said what would happen. I am really hoping for shrinkage. I have a telephone appointment with my oncologist on 8th Dec. I think Nicky's advice of prepare for the worse case scenario is good.

Hope you are feeling well, I feel great but very bored of being at home all the time.

Take Care and lots of love xxx

  • Thank  you I hope this message comes up I’m not technical and my thanks never reach the perso who has replied to me so thank you and I hope when you go in it’s all good news

  • HiPhoebe, they said they were going for curative but I’m sure I’ll have surgery. My scan is on the 8th and 10th so let’s pray the 8 th is a good day. I’m bored but I feel fatigued but I think that’s more anxiety. Hope this message comes up I don’t know what’s going on I know I’m not technical but thank you and good luck

Yes it is my favorite film ever I think, closely followed by Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral. It seemed right as a strap line for cancer. I know that it is the fear that paralyses me at times and I am so determined to make the most of the precious time I have left.
