    Hi Jaimee,

Welcome to the group. It must have been a shock to have your diagnosis, but things are starting to move for you now. Please don't google... that's the worst thing that you can do! You've got your CT scan tomorrow - are you also having an MRI scan? Your team will want to look at the tumour in more detail and that will help them decide the best way forward. I was diagnosed when I was 46 years old and write this as a 55 year old - I had stage 3, and had 2 tumours removed through surgery. It was hard, and I did have good and bad days, but who doesn't. As hard as it will be, try and be positive - you really are young enough to get through this and still live a full and active life! I'm sure others will come along and support you, but if you have any questions at all, just ask - we're all very good at answering!

    Linda :-)

Thanks very much they said I have a malignant tumour in my bowel I’ve been ill for ages . I’m terrified and can’t take it all in all’s I think about is cancer so I’m doing mindfulness to try calm down it’s so overwhelming I couldn’t even take in what the doc said . Yes ct scan and mri too

  • Hi Jaimee. Please don't worry too much.  I know it's not easy but you are young. I had rectal cancer last year and am doing really well at the moment. I'm 60. Good luck with your scans. If anything is found things will progress very quickly to get the best results. Sending you my best wishes xx Kim.

    Thank yo x

  • Hi Jamiee,

Iknow how hard this is as a 59year old male, i had tumour removed from sigmoid colon on the 3rd September, was back home on the 6th sept and started chemo on the 23rd Oct to mop up cells in the lympgh nodes.

Op was laparoscopic which i think helps with recovery, try and keep fit and eat healthy as this will be a benifit in recovery, like you and i'm sure the rest of us were all teriffied at the news of cancer but we try our best to reassure others there is hope of a full recovery, all the very best with your journey.

Hi Jaimee I also had a colonoscopy on Friday , I have had biopsies taken from a lesion. Drs have also arranged fro MRI and CT scan.  I’m 56 and know how you are feeling it is terrifying but I am trying to keep positive, I haven’t told family or friends anything as I want all the facts first.  We can get through this.

  • Hi Nerysson. I hope your scans go ok. I was like you in that I didn't want to tell anyone until I had the info I needed. As I replied to Jaimee, once they have found something at your colonoscopy things move really quickly on a treatment level. I had 25 sessions of radiotherapy along with chemotherapy and surgery 6 months later. This was followed by 6 months of adjuvant chemotherapy to ensure (hopefully) that it doesn't come back. Even through Covid my scans have continued as normal. The only thing delayed is my colonoscopy which I have on 28th of this month so you can probably be sure that you will get all the treatment you need. I have since returned to work full timexx
