My husband was diagnosed with a fast growing net rectal tumour in August and given a 12month life expectancy. At the age of 55 he and I were devastated. We were recommended a possible trial at christies in Manchester (who have been amazing). Lots of issues down the line, mainly neglect of care by local hospital, my husband is once again in hospital. They have now said he is likely to pass away in days. There have been too many mistakes to go into here, but can I just say to anyone out there. Fight the corner for your loved one. If you are not happy with the care they receive say so, and don't always accept what the hospital staff say, as they are not always truthful, not doing what they say. If you cannot visit make sure you speak to you loved one everyday and check they are being fed, getting medication etc and if not phone up an chase it.
So sorry to hear this . You have both had a terrible experience. There us nothing worse than being ignored by professional caregivers, and witnessing the deterioration of a loved one. My heart goes out to you. Your advice is so right, keep fighting and never give up.
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Just heartbreaking to read . I am so sorry to read what you have both been through . I am glad he has had a strong advocate in you but also worry for others .
I hope you are both surrounded by love at such a difficult time and circumstances.
much love ,
Court
