hi everyone, I'm not even sure I'm in the right part as I'm finding this site really difficult to find my way around, anyways I'm hopefully having my last chemo on Monday and then a mri scan and surgery, but I'm scared and could do with some support please x
Hello Ammis. I can really relate to this. After 14 chemo sessions and 29 radiotherapy, I had the tumour removed. I was terrified of the outcome. Coped quite well with the treatment, but was so worried about after surgery. Managed not to show this too much to family and friends, but I really understand how you must be feeling. After several years I am here with some digestive and bowel related issues, but mostly fine. I would just say there is so much help out there for you; from this site to Macmillan nurses to the consultants, let alone your personal contacts. I think my greatest technique was to try not to look further than each day (obviously failed some days) and to make sure I smiled every day, even when I really didn’t want to. Corners of the mouth upwards and some positive thoughts each day. Not underestimating the difficult days. Wishing you all the very best during this time.
Hi ,
Sending all our love and support to you . Even as a carer I felt like they were removing the safety net a bit and the scans were initially scary . That has all reduced with time . The further you get away from it and start to trust your own health again gives you more strength .
Wishing you every success with the scans and hope your treatment tomorrow goes well .

hi Leila, thank you so much for your reply, means the world to me and also puts things into perspective.
Hope you are doing well xx
Wishing you the best of luck and I hope the chemo has done its job. My husband is stage 4. He had the bowel tumour removed in June and he's on his final cycle of chemo before his liver scan on the 19th. I'm terrified to get the results but hoping all has gone to plan, and he can get liver surgery.
The waiting is definitely the worst. All the best xx
turns out that the chemo hasn't worked as well as they had hoped so I'm still at 421, next stage is chemo and then 7 weeks before another MRI scan which will make nearly a year since I fell ill yet I'm the only one who seems worried about that, meanwhile I have a tumour making itself at home and noone seems worried about it x
Hi
Are they still thinking of going ahead with radiotherapy.
I am really sorry to read your post and the concerns you raise . Remember at any point you can ask for a second opinion from another team . You sound as though you need some more confidence in what is being proposed . Just a thought !

Understand your concern. Long time to wait for surgery .
Hope the radiotherapy does most of the work. Surgery feels like a permanent solution and we yearned for it too . Totally different set of circumstances but due to a spread my mum had hoops to go through and it was a year before her primary tumour was actually removed . But it was in the end . Just want to give you a wee bit encouragement as I know difficult it is to keep thinking of it still being there . It used to trouble me too .
Hope the mapping goes well on Friday and the treatment very effective.
Are you having symptoms from it just now ?
