My father in law has just had surgery to remove a mass from his rectum. They said that it was larger than they expected and it has spread to his bowel so they removed part of it. They thought there was something on his liver but looked during the surgery and it seemed ok, but removed some lymph nodes for testing.
They said it’s likely he’ll need chemo. Has anyone had any experience with this?
, you will find lots of help here. I had rectal cancer, with a large tumour removed last year. Click on my name for details. There are various chemo regimes, but one is 30 weeks of low dose 5FU, which I had. It sounds horrendous but is generally livable. It gets worse as the weeks tick by, but they can reduce the dose, or give you a week off. Other regimes are shorter but stronger.
Take care, and ask on here any questions you or FiL might have, I'm sure someone will try and help.
