Hi, my husband started Folfiri and cetuximab 10 days ago, 4th cycle folfiri, 1st cetuximab, it’s been the most severe to date.
He was prescribed some antibiotics, along with his normal meds after his intravenous chemo and after starting with a rash on his face yesterday, started taking the prescribed one a day. He is however having considerable pain to his scalp, after showering this morning he said it felt like needles in his skin. Any suggestions?
Thanks......Budge
Hi, no, not really but I guess it’s possible they are slowing down the development, some photos you can see online look very sore and inflamed. He’s having another telephone consultation in the morning, so I’ll suggest he asks for a referral to a Dermatologist, so thank you for the suggestion.
To be honest, I’ve never seen him so low, he’s really struggling, the fact he’s now losing his hair and with this reaction to the cetuximab, he doesn’t want anyone to see him, and, yes, he does say some things I’d rather not hear, and I can’t seem to do right for doing wrong, but if nothing else, I have endless reserves of patience, he has a lot to work through, as do I, but I keep having little chats to myself and so far I’m ok,
Many thanks......Budge
Hi, just an update. I did ask about a referral but his oncologist said he usually prescribed antibiotics and steroid cream, thankfully, over the last few days, they have kicked in and his skin is looking much better, scalp still very sore but hopefully in time.
At least it made him feel better enough to go down to Totnes, (see pic below) for lunch and to watch our daughter paddle board, happy days and the sun was shining ..... Budge x
What a great photo budge13 so pleased you both got out to have a lovely time . The weather looks amazing . We had some beautiful sunshine too.
Sounds as though there is progress with his rash . Must be so uncomfortable so pleased it has improved .
Have a good evening ,

My partner had a very bad reaction with the cetuximab - we ended up on prednisolone (?) a steroid to help heal it. Also if the skin begins to break then use a cream called hydromol in the shower as there are no hidden things in there that will sting and it also creates a protective layer on the skin to keep it hydrated.
In terms of shampoo we used a very very mild new board baby shampoo
I hope the helps a little. It is a very nasty side effect but can be managed
thanks
