Does anyone have any positive stories about immunotherapy, I’m anxious about the very large list of side effects!

Stage four bowel cancer, secondary in liver.
I’ve had one successful round of chemo and one not so successful “half a round” of different chemo (three sessions)

Next step, immunotherapy.
Feeling really well at the moment and starting the treatment next week.

  • Hi

I have been following the immunotherapy progress from the USA for around two to three years to the point ( I think) MSI patients now get put on Keytrunda as first line treatment . Some are successfully through their two years of treatment with no evidence of disease and going solo .

You might want to have a look in the Lung forum here or the Melanoma forum for side effects if you are going on Keytrunda . They are a wee bit further down the road than Bowel cancer .

My friend had an amazing response to a significant spread of lung cancer . She had been on platinum based chemo so similar to bowel cancer and found it all manageable compared to chemo . Unfortunately a kidney issue interfered with it but she had a fantastic response .
We don’t get too many people getting access to Immunotherapy so I am hoping it goes really well for you .

    Take care,

    Hi Annie,

Hope you're feeling well. I don't know about immunotherapy firsthand, but I read about it lately and I think it could be the future of fighting with cancer.

Did you see this article: https://www.cityu.edu.hk/research/stories/2020/02/20/cityu-young-scholars-research-rare-cells-brings-hope-new-cancer-immunotherapy-and-vaccine? I really hope that this will work for you.

    Best wishes,

    Marie
