I am 48 and am yr and a half clear from my rectal cancer. My most recent ct scan showed no traces of cancer,my blood tests also clear.I have a permanent stoma which I am fairly well used too by this stage.Lately I have been experiencing an urge to go to the toilet or heavy feeling in my (for want of a better word) bum area.Obviously with my removal of rectum etc I cant do this.I am wondering if this may be caused by exercise or over straining. If anyone has similar experience I would love to hear.
Hi David123454321
Just popped in to say 'hello'. So pleased to hear that you are doing so well and your recent blood test and scans are clear.
I had surgery for colon cancer so don't have any advice or suggestions, although I am aware that this is often discussed on here. I'm sure someone will be along soon who has had similar experience and be able to offer advice.
Take care,
VickiLynne
Hi David,
That is so good to hear about your clear scans and blood tests. Many folks who've had their rectum removed occasionally get a feeling of wanting 'to go', but as you know that's impossible! The advice is just to go to the toilet as though you would have done before and the sensation will pass. I don't believe it's related to exercise. I'm 8 years on from my surgery and still get that feeling the odd time, so nothing to worry about!
Take care,
Linda :-)
