Has anyone experienced/developed tremor or general shakiness after low anterior resection bowel surgery- possibly as a result of malnutrition/poor food absorbtion over a period of time? Has long term malabsorbtion after surgery been raised before? I don't mean down to the accute effects of chemo etc but something that possibly silently creeps up on you with time? I should add I employ colonic irrigation for stricture
Thanks
G
Hi G (Grober)
First of all, may I welcome you to the forum.
I had colon cancer but I had big problems with diet, and this can play a big part in recovery. You don't mention your fluid intake and ofter if you don't drink enough water this can cause shakiness - especially as we are getting older.
t really helps us on here if you are able to fill in your profile and when you have time you might consider doing that.
I would suggest that you contact your Cancer Specialist Nurse or Key worker - you should have been given their contact details - but if not speak to your consultant's secretary and she/he should be able to find this contact information for you.
You could also speak to your consultant about having an appointment with a dietician.
Macmillan also have a help and support line, the number is 0808 808 0000 and it is available 7 days a week from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm where you can advice on all cancer related matters and also emotional support. They also have advice on diet.
Bowel Cancer UK is also a good source information and help. bowelcanceruk.org.uk.
I'm sure that someone who has had similar surgery to your's will be in touch soon.
Take care,
VickiLynne
Thanks VickiLynne for your reply. I have actually been a member for a couple of years and detailed my history here
Grateful for the advice on fluid intake if that's a contributing factor. Is there a section on anal irrigation?
Grober
Hi again Grober
I had a look in your profile and as there was nothing listed I wasn't aware that you had been a member for a couple of years. Perhaps you could copy and past that post into your profile page.
As I had colon cancer I cannot help with regard to anal irrigation, but hopefully someone else will be in touch who has experience of this.
Take care,
VickiLynne
