Hi All

I had my APR surgery 11 weeks ago and am largely dealing with the interesting post op repercussions. I was wondering if anybody (well men) has experienced the following problem. One half of my "chap" is completely numb, and the other half feels a bit uncomfortable, sometimes sore (no infection). Has anyone experienced this and was it permanent or did it rectify itself over time...or does anyone have any thoughts answers??

Many thanks

  • Hi ,

Probably can’t help you directly but given it’s a sensory problem it sounds as though your sensory nerves have had a bit of a knock . From what I can remember and it was a long time ago they can regenerate around an inch a month or around a mm a day . I had a quick look and if it’s more of an injury than a tear it’s up to sound twelve weeks .  So depending on the sight of the injury I can take a bit longer .
However I would not be afraid to drop and email to your consultant and I am sure they would be happy to reassure you . Plus they might be able to give you some guidance . I am sure it  must happen quite a lot .

Hopefully you will get some resolution soon ,

    take care ,

  • Thanks Court, much appreciated. I shall remain positive with the belief that there's a chance however small of potentially regaining normality there :-)

    Very best
