Good afternoon from Scotland . The weather is once again beautiful however I am busy at my parents as I ordered 3 tons of top soil . I have already moved the stones and preparing to grass more if their back garden . It will be easier in the long run . I can only get my own gang to help at this stage .

Gazebo is up in the garden and had one family over last night , which was lovely . I am still being very careful and it was not without a bit of adjusting to getting organised and into a bit of a new routine .

Great to hear about the new sewing gowns and hope if their is a need in the future more PPE is available. So looking forward to seeing the new summer jacket . So much talent on this forum . I also hope the working from home gets into a good routine for you . There is a lot of adjustments there as well . A lot of changes just now .
I was a bit disturbing to see a hospital having to close but I also noticed the spread is just reaching some of our more rural communities just now .

So we have dipped our toes in the water . It is actually really hard to not go near people in a social setting . My son had to pull be back as my family left last night . I was walking straight out behind them but I will improve !!  Yikes !

Hope your all well . Glass of water and back to work .

The view today from Woolton woods across the Wirral to Wales

A beautiful day in Liverpool also.  As you will notice the area is awash with socially irresponsible LFC fans celebrating the imminent return of the Premiership.   Who makes key decisions?  The police force guaranteed to produce a negative reaction with our fans is that of South Yorkshire.   Too many remember the carnage of Hillsborough and the scandalous 20+ year cover up by SYP.  So who do they pick to be the national lead on football policing?  DCC Mark Roberts of SYP.  His first pronouncement - all LFC matches must be out of the city.  This was immediately contradicted by Merseyside police's who said they were happy to have matches in the city.  Now if there's one thing our police up here know how to do it's manage large sports crowds, two Prem teams mean at least one match every week, often more, we have the Grand National and the odd 750,000 strong victory parade.  The two grounds are separated by Stanley park - you could socially isolate 100k in there without any problems.

"Every cloud etc' but we live in the epicentre of "Beatle land'.  We live about 250 meters from Strawberry Fields, 500m from St Peters church where John met Paul, the graveyard also has the gravestone of John's Uncle George and one Eleanor Rigby; it also has the grave of Bob Paisley.  Mendips - where John was raised, and Forthlin Rd, Paul's home are both nearby.  Getting anywhere around this part of Liverpool is aleays problematic due to tour buses and tourist taxis.  We are very grateful for the money music tourism brings the city but it is nice not to encounter the Magical Mystery bus in a stand off with another 52 seater as to who gets right of way on streets that can barely take two cars.

This sounds like a real moan from someone who doesn't know how lucky he is.  Not true.   A year ago by the day I was in Madrid with one of my sons boiling alive in the cauldron that was Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, watching Jordan Henderson lift the European cup.   Watch the YouTube videos of him getting the cup and then going to his Dad Brian, a cancer survivor,  and collapse into his arms, I defy you not to 'tear up.'  That night I have never been so grateful for the fantastic work of the RLUH.  My wife is a Dr and has seen the consequences of the pandemic first hand.  I know to outsiders it may seem we're pathetically dependent on football success but we've waited 30 long years for this and we're not going to spoil it now with potentially life endangering stupidity .

  • That park looks amazing . You are so fortunate to have such a large space close to home . We have a beautiful park but it’s much smaller and I have stayed away as there are a lot of families without a garden not to far from the park . We have suffered from every available green space being built on including our local children’s swing park which had a nice bit of grass with it . A gift from a local farmer and green belt too !
Anyway I have stayed close to home . The weather has just been amazing and I am taking it slowly .
My boys are just delighted some football is coming back . My peace will be shattered but they have handled all this well and to be honest even when they saw others breaking lockdown still did their bit so I will enjoy watching them , hearing them for a wee bit anyway !

Are they worried about crowds forming outside venues ? Actually the people that have not complied around here has surprised me . Not who I thought and the young people have been absolutely fantastic in thinking of the bigger picture !
    Going to relax today .

Has anyone had any guidance on Vulnerable/ shielding groups ? My mum’s oncologist is phoning this week so going to ask her . But I was wondering if that information is available.

    Have a great day .

  • It has been a hot weekend in the west midlands , have to try and get the chores done in the morning before it gets too hot.

The gp surgery rang me last week, but they had no news regarding the shielding. They did say they would let me know if they heard anything, so will wait and see. We can go out for an hour or so, but this is not so relevant living in the country. I've snuck out for walks for the last fortnight or so, as don't meet anyone normally!

  • Hi everyone your garden looks beautiful @court and the park looks amazing  , we have some wonderful parks in London but far to packed at the moment. I heard on the news today that those of us who are shielding are to be allowed out as from tommorrow in England the advice is a bit confusing though, but I shall just walk around the block to start with which will be better than nothing.  Sounds weird but tommorrow  I have to have my bloods taken for the next lot of chemotherapy but am looking forward to the walk to the hospital  and back , I know I will get really tired but am looking forward to being out . Have not done many arts this weekend  have felt a bit rough but have read a lot.  Hope everyone is ok

    Hi Peacock

Hope you'll be feeling better soon.

Take care when you go out and keep safe.

    Sending hugs,

  • We're very lucky where we live as we have several beautiful within walking distance.  The above picture is Sefton park, probably the biggest of them.  The wonderful weather has made them popular  - but we've never seen crowding.   The beauty of Liverpool's parks is not a side of the city that gets media attention.

The lockdown has provided me with a chance to do some 'guilt free' binge reading.   The book of the year for me is undoubtedly Hilary Mantel's,  'The Mirror & the Light,' it's a wonderful novel with a laugh out loud twist on 'the dog ate my homework' involving a leopard.  Anyone read anything worth recommending?

  • Evening everyone . Another beautiful day here . Even went to a garden centre which was so much easier than a supermarket. It was so well organised and all the staff had masks on and very organised procedures . I felt very safe indeed !

I hope you enjoyed your walk and sincerely hope the chemo is going ok ! Is this your second cycle? Certainly progress from a few months ago !

my mum is asking tomorrow about which group she is actually in !

I have never heard about the beautiful parks in Liverpool . Love how we are getting to know more about other areas . My concentration is so bad just now I am on the same book for weeks . A few pages at a time . One of my all time favourite books was the “ Kyte Runner” yet the film was so sad ! I am normally a very keen reader but not so much in the last few years !

Hope everyone else is doing ok . Lynne how is your area coping . I think of you every time I see an image of the beaches . Strangely enough our coastal areas have only really had locals on them ! But they headed to poor old Loch Lomond instead . But on the whole there is still a lot of social distancing going on . Plus we got a stern warning that if we don’t take responsibility a legally bound 5 mile radius will be set .

    So that’s my news.

    Have a good evening ,

  • , beautiful here too, but I don't like it hot!!!! The GP surgery didn't have any new info last week, and said they would let me know if they did, so I don't like to hassle them. I could try my trial team if it becomes an issue I guess. Oncologist changes each time I go, so the trial nurses are at least consistent. Colorectal meeting is in July.

If it becomes an issue with work (school) then I shall investigate further. In the meantime my work is trickling in, and I have scrubs to do. I hope that it will become clearer in the next couple of weeks. Part of me thinks I'll be ok going out properly, but then the other part says that if what I had wasn't covid, then it will do me some serious damage if I did get it. So I don't know which way to jump! Roll on an antibody test.

  • It is all so complicated . The antibody test is quite complicated in itself . I paid for a lab one but was quite surprised to see three pinprick sticks included . You have to supply quite a lot of blood 3ml roughly from a finger prick ! Not sure if I will get the results as the government then suspended  retailers from doing them but I had gone straight to a lab one so we will wait and see . I would not change anything anyway but would like to know .

I love the sunlight but not a sunbather .

Are you hoping to get back to work or would you rather wait a while ?

    take care ,

  • Yes I think I will be waiting some while for an antibody test, though it would help any decision. I mostly work for myself, which theoretically hasn't stopped. It did stop, but as people are buying animals again, orders are occasional now. Hence the time available to sew. School is one day per week, and although I felt left out when they published the staff Rota, they only have 2 shielding people, so are ok. Its not like I'd be doing my own job if I went in (DT technician) so I am not worried. I have supplied them with visors so I've helped from a distance, and done some online training. As I said, it is difficult to reconcile my two viewpoints at the moment, but the fact that it is only in the last fortnight I have felt physically well would indicate I shouldn't go in for a while yet.

    Stay safe all.
