The Boris Break Tit-bits our day - Saturday 18th April
Good morning
That was a varied array of topics covered yesterday.
On the subject of local dialogue I'm sure that the spoken word is harder to understand that the written word, and looking at Marks list I could find the meaning for the majority of them but spoken in a sentence with a local twange could be a different story, for me I don't have use my local lingo my accent gives others problems and can be quite laughable to be told in hospital by a Jamaican or Nigerian nurse with a thick accent that they can't understand me and my accent has softened after living in East of England and only 15 or so miles from London's east end for the last 35 years.
court I would just love to see you make a response in same manner as our beloved bard, are you up for giving it a try
Marks comments about supplies is an all too common one for us ostomates, we are damned if we over order and in deep brown in nasty and we run out, it's not like we can pop into the corner chemist and pick up a box off the shelf, no from the point of order until the courier drops them at the front door can take two weeks and the question is why and just exactly where is the hold up, it all depends on how you order and this is my method
Place monthly order online to my supply company.
At the same time email my principal contact at the company and confirm the order to her.
Supply company sends the request to my GP by email.
Day 2 or 3 GP authorises the items and sends the prescriptions over by Electronic prescription service.
Day 4 I check my online patient access at my GP surgery and check to see that the prescriptions have been issued, if I see them there I email the supply company if I don't I phone GP to see what's happening.
Day 6 email from courier advising they have my order.
Day 7 email from the courier advising one hour slot, if I feel like it I track the courier's progress to my front door and be at the door ready to greet him.
One thing that should be remembered is that the GP prescriptions are issued for 28 days not 30 or 31 which means you should receive 13 prescriptions in a calendar year not 12. I have also noticed on my patient access account that against each of my prescription items it shows the earliest date the item can be reordered which is 3 weeks from the last order. I have just ordered my monthly medication using the can't order before date and the prescriptions were issued and dispensed by the Pharmacy including 2 controlled drugs.
I do have to admit that I spent a bit of time finding out every step of the ordering process, then made suggestions to both GP surgery and supply company on how I would like my ordering requests handled and both agreed and so far no hic-ups. I also have told my supply company that they should advise me if an item is out of stock but send me everything they have with the delayed items to follow, they know that I am aware that they get paid for each prescription dispensed and that they get a fee to cover delivery costs so it costs them nothing for split deliveries, in the same way that the monthly NHS drugs tariff stipulates that dry wipes must be supplied with every box of pouches sent but doesn't give a quantity.
It was a funny weather day yesterday what with sunny start changing to an overcast windy day whilst I sat in my chair anxiously awaiting the pitter patter of the rain drops on the window and the garden getting a good soaking, at about 4 pm the wait was over the expected rain arrived sprayed the ground in few places hardly making the path wet and left, just have to wait to see if the overnight rain will be any heavier and do the job before it stops at 1pm.
What else would you like to discuss?
Captain Tom total over 20 millions as I said previously I hope that some of the money finds its way to the place that Tom wanted it to go before being swallowed up in the NHS system no doubt the in fighting has already started with people claiming their right to get some, let Tom and his daughter have a say on how it is distributed.
Or maybe you'd like to talk about the
Truth about personal protective equipment and why the government was so naive about the difference between global supplies and distribution and not realising that we have very few actual factories making clothing in this country. And why are they being so slow in taking up offers from small companies that have said they could start production and have either been ignored or bogged down in red tape, I'm sure that Corrie's underworld would jump at the chance to make hospital gowns, masks or other garments if asked!
Or maybe we could turn the conversation to
The conmen who are making a fortune from selling substandard masks that are useless or selling dangerous sanitising hand gel that could cause skin problems.
Or even worse offering to supply large quantities of gowns and masks with a promise that they are available but in reality the only positive thing that will happen is that once the conman has the money he will just disappear to surface the same day with a new company ready to con the next person desperate to obtain essential items to keep a care home, GP surgery or hospital department safe.
So there you have it something to talk about in between trying to complete Karen's Kareno62 latest quiz before she gives you the answers later on today and she sets the next one.
For me I'm off to bed and don't intend to think about the problems of the country.
Hope everyone else had a good night and are ready to face the weekend challenges.

Hi Kareno62
Missed 2 in the animal quiz - panda and panther
Been busy as we adopted an out of control 12 foot hedge when we moved in and have drastically reduced it to promote new growth we can' control. Loads of cutting up and lopping to be done now and it's taking ages
So playing catch-up now....
