The Boris Break Tit-bits our day - Tuesday 14th April
Good morning
Yesterday certainly brought a change in the weather, could almost say it was a typical bank holiday type of day.
Every cloud has a silver lining and the change in the weather was an ideal deterrent for keeping all away from the beaches and parks. Watching some of the comparisons made against last year for the usual holiday go to places was quite an eye-opener.
That's the first of this year's bank holidays over only three weeks until the first in May and wonder what will be in store for us by then, will we still be in lockdown, will we be still shielding ourselves, will shopping ever be the same.
When I was thinking about what to highlight today as usual I started with a blank canvas and nothing in particular to talk about then out of the blue court comes to the rescue with her story about her mum and dad and their unwanted callers, and I have replied to court on this but would like to take the opportunity to carry the story on a bit more today.
It's a timely reminder that criminals have not gone into isolation, they are not concerned about passing on the virus to all they come in contact with, it's business as usual for them retaining their objective to relieve as many elderly and vulnerable people of their hard earned savings as possible. Our nest eggs are not getting any bigger, interest on savings is nonexistent and the ever worry that they have about going into care homes haunts them.
In my response to court I listed some of the things that the elderly and vulnerable people are entitled to have in my area and hope that the same initiative is available in other areas of the UK. Do you know if there is a similar scheme in operation in your area and who to contact to access the service, if not you then it could be your mum and dad that could benefit from a home safety check today and of course I want to know what's available in your area.
It was nice to see so many interacting with each yesterday. Maybe with a little bit of encouragement we'll see a few more members join in, no pressure but the more the merrier.
I'm all prepared for my telephone appointment this morning, all my equipment in position ready to check my weight, take my blood pressure and check my blood sugar the only thing I can't do is let him see the amount of swelling in my ankles or attach the necessary leads for an ECG to be taken, just wonder how he'll be able to use his stethoscope.
Have a good day and remember

Hi Ian
Good luck with your appointment today I hope the leads for your ECG don't get tangled down the telephone line!! Seriously though although I see the need I'm not keen on these telephone appointments as I don't think they get the true picture of your symptoms. I've got one next week with a dietician the GP won't prescribe me anymore ensure drinks unless I see a dietition only thing is they have referred me to a different hospital which is not in the same trust so they won't have any of my notes or history, The GP has not taken into account that I have had bowel surgery an ilostomy and chemotherapy which has been stopped because of the virus I just hope they are not going to take away my nutrition also !!
Well good luck

Morning all.
Back to abit of normality again well babisitting duties for me anyway for my eldest grandson who is 4. Unfortunately with the lockdown I miss out on the physical contact and playing with the other 3 grandkids . I think that is the biggest thing for all of us with friends and family and that physical social contact. As everyone one is saying it's very difficult having telephone consultations instead of
ctual appointments so good luck Peacock62 Gemmary and BODACH with your telephone consultations. I am expecting a delivery from Coloplast Charter today let's hope they actually knock the door or t
t no-one takes it from the door step like last week. Plus let's hope it's a full prescription this time. Please please stay safe everyone and enjoy the glorious sunshine
if a little cooler.
Stay safe everyone

Morning all, I was naughty this morning and I ventured out very early this morning and managed a 5km walk by going round the block 5 times. It was incredibly cold but I really enjoyed it. I might try to make this a daily thing, provided I don't sleep in.
PIYO yesterday had made my thighs and buttocks a little bit tender. Didn't think I'd done that much. Just goes to show how you use different muscles for different things.
Mark I hope your delivery arrives safely and doesn't go walkabout.
Take care, stay warm and stay well.

Good afternoon everyone and hope you’re all well. I’ve just been to Sainsbury’s and there was a couple in the queue in the car park in front of me. The member of staff monitoring the queue pointed out that only 1 person was allowed in so the husband moved forward, the wife moved back and they continued queuing separately - the member of Staff’s face was a picture and she looked at me as if to say ‘you knew what I meant didn’t you?’ Managed to get some rice this time and managed not to thump the guy who decided that speed was of the essence and was just rushing around leaning across people grrrrr!

If anyone fancies setting themselves a physical challenge try the 'Couch to 5k' app. Basically the aim is to get you fit enough to run 5k in 9 weeks, which may or may not be before the current rules end.
Don't think, that's beyond me, it's a well structured programme using 3 sessions per week, which for the first 6 weeks are as much walk as run/jog. If you give it a go, get some headphones, choose your trainer ( I really liked Sanjeev Kholi) and get some decent tunes on your phone.
I did it first in 2018 and it works. It won't help you like running, I still detest it, but it makes it doable.

Evening All ,
The sun was shining here but definitely colder . Busy morning doing a deep clean but felt as though I had done a nightshift ! Did not sleep very much but got into a nice wee dose this afternoon . When I did sleep last night I dreamt I was surfing . The waves were crashing over me . Strangely enough it really cheered me up ! Watched a surfing program today just to see some waves .
So Bonfires are banned in one of our Scottish cities . Nice reason behind it though , if people are staying in and only able to open a window then they want them to get fresh air ! Thought that was sensitive.
Trying to change my mum’s mobile contract but with great difficulty. She needs more data to use FaceTime and is really finding it helpful .
just going to speak to my sister about the safety issues that have surfaced just now .
Stwhitm Could be the push I need . Astonished that the day can pass by doing very little indeed .
take care ,

Has your wife been able to say you have to shield to her employers? Hopefully they will have a plan . I know some people whose jobs have moved them to areas where they are less likely to be in touch with patients who have tested positive .
Such a chaotic and complex situation we find ourselves in .
Hope you have a good evening .
Off for a quite cup of tea .

My wife's employers the local council are aware of my shielding and also Unison the union are too. I think because they have 6 units/wards they will keep her on one of the other units but even those are full of people from the local hospital. It's a difficult situation as she doesn't want to not go to work but also feels she needs more support from work regards my shielding. Hopefully they will allow her to work a different unit otherwise she may need to speak with the Union.
Enjoy your tea that's just what I'm gonna do abit cold for a Stella .
Stay safe everyone
