Hi Folks!

Just wanted to introduce myself into the group.

Diagnosed on 26/03/2020 with Rectal Adenocarcinoma (T4 N2b MX) with a possibility of Liver & Lung metastasis.  Cancer also locally advanced with involvement of seminal vesicles anteriorly.

Loop Colostomy performed on 1st April 2020, discharged from Hospital on 5th April.

Awaiting consultation with oncologist.

  • Hi

A very warm welcome to the group . Hope we can be of some assistance to you .
Very early days into your diagnosis so I am very sorry to hear about that . I take it they plan to send you to chemotherapy first ? This turned out to be a very good plan for my mum . She was diagnosed through a bowel screening program that had just been introduced in our area . Total shock to find a tumour that had spread to her liver . However chemo did a fantastic job and actually opened up other options further down the road . If it interests you can read her journey through this by clicking on my user name . Not always straightforward with a recurrence then a spread to her lung . But she has been living a good life for nearly 11 years despite her diagnosis. The first few years were the most intense with treatment .

You are welcome to ask any questions that crop up or join in any thread . Our Boris Break thread is there for you too if you need a wee rant or catch up on how others are putting in their days . There is actually a few people around just now who are just starting treatment and you might like to follow their progress too and see the way forward with treatments .

Really sorry you had to join us but also very glad you reach out .

    Take care ,

    Hi Court

Many thanks for your reply, appreciate it.

Yup early days indeed... But I have a positive and optimistic outlook on things.  Initially thought that I may only be given palliative care, so everything is good :-)

Yes, I do believe they are wanting me to start chemo/radiotherapy at some point, not quite sure when yet, but I'm sure will find out more after my first oncology appointment.

Pleased to hear your mum is doing so well.

I'm sure I will have many, many more questions once my colostomy/stoma settles down and I have spoken with my oncologist.

Thanks again and all the best

    Keep safe & well

    Mark

Yes a very warm welcome from me to the bowel group, not much I can add to what court has told you, being positive is definitely a plan of action to follow.

As has mentioned I can help with your stoma and you will see that I have introduced myself to you over in the Ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy and any other stoma support group and that is the place to head to for all related information about living with a stoma, should you need my help I'll be waiting to help you over there, at anytime you need me.

    Hi Mark

From a fellow Mark and Ileostomy stoma. Just a further welcome to the online community BlushGrinGrin as Court and the BODACH have said. I'm fairly new myself to the Ileostomy stoma as 10 weeks old today is my 3rd nipple as I've named it. The positivity I love my mantra is if I can't control it I don't worry about it so during the last 12 months as my profile said as been well interesting please click on my name for details.

    Stay safe everyone
