I drove for the first time yesterday, 6 weeks after surgery and have experienced some discomfort, pulling sensation is this normal, also is anyone else waking up in the night with a sore throat imagining they have the virus, you wonder if you will ever feel safe going out again.
Morning hutchm. Good to hear that you’re managing to get back to doing normal stuff again. Anything ‘new’ that you do might resort in a few twinges as your insides continue to heal and knit back together for quite a while. Try and have an easier day today. Depending on where the ache is, I found it helpful to sit on a cushion when driving as it was comfier to sit on and made getting in and out of the car a bit easier.
I totally understand where you’re coming from with the worry about the virus. Please do not underestimate the effect that cancer can have on you mentally. I find anxiety to be a big issue now and, although time is a great healer, the fact that you’ve had cancer is always in the back of your mind.
Im sure you’re taking every precaution and this virus coupled with recent cancer surgery will be testing your strength. My favourite mantra during my hospital stays was ‘This too shall pass’ and it did as will this pandemic - we just need to all sit tight and ride it out.
My husband was awake early the other morning and we both had dry throats. The bedroom seems stuffy even with a window open and I think there’s been a high pollen count recently. Hope this isn’t cheeky but do you think you might have taken to sleeping on your back since surgery and maybe having a little snore which might cause a sore/dry throat?
Hope you continue to improve after your op - take little steps and rest when you need to and please keep posting and let us know how you’re getting on
Take care
