Hi all you kind people, I don’t post much but read everyday as difficult to post using my phone.
my hubby had got complete response from long course chemo radiotherapy which finished in June. He has been on 3 months surveillance with scans biopsies and sigmoidoscopy all been well until last Wednesday when got call to see surgeon the good news CT and MRI all good but biopsies showed cell change so surgeon said now needs surgery.
we are very disappointed and anxious especially with Coronavirus adding extra anxiety!
Call today surgery is next Tue 24th with temp stoma planned.
The surgeon emailed on Monday night at 10pm to say please don’t worry, we have to trust her and remain as focused and as positive as we can, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers if you have any spare.
i am sure I will be back asking for support and advice, be ready I know your the expert xxx
Hi process
Always good to hear from you , and the good news of no spread . He has such a strong team around him from surgeon to his family . Timing is rotten just now but sounds as though his surgeon has a firm grasp of this .
This time next week and he will be in the recovery phase . Totally cancer free , then home for some comfort and care .
We are as ever here for you too . In fact more so than ever in the current circumstances.
take care ,

It might not feel like it at the moment but this new part of the journey is good news and an end to many of your husbands problems and I just know that he will feel a different man afterwards albeit with a stoma which may only be a temporary measure and who knows the surgeon may be able to do her job without a stoma being necessary. It sounds as if you have a caring surgeon and has given you some really good advice to stay positive and focused but mainly trust her to do her job. We all have people in our lives who we feel we can trust and personally I rate surgeons very highly in my list of people that I can trust to use their skills in such a way that way that I continue to have a quality of life.
Let's wait and see before we start talking about stoma management, if it happens then will be the time for me to step in and give you the best advice and help that I can, I'm about every day should you need help and it is not unusual for me to check messages during the night and provide help and support.
I hope that the surgery will take place as planned on the 24th and my advice would be for hubby to stay indoors until then, avoid contact with others including, this is the hard part, immediate family members and on the day travel to hospital the safest way and if you've got any he should keep using hand sanitisers even when he is is recovering in bed.
You both will certainly be in our thoughts and there is always a spare prayer available for you, you may not hear the actual words but I'm sure you will feel the warmth as they touch you.
Keep us informed how things go on the 24th, I'll wish hubby good luck but I'm sure he won't need it and everything will be okay and the worrying will be a thing of the past, and if we could get out and enjoy his new life.
Prayers and thoughts coming your way
Thank you for your careful and supportive message I really appreciate it, he had been self isolating since last Wednesday but keeping himself fit as he can and busy. Special thanks for your prayers and thoughts.
i will update when it’s all done
