Having been diagnosed with bowel cancer on Monday, which was a tremendous shock, I was slowly comong to terms with it.

Nothing untoward happened between then and now. This morning I woke up with terrible diarrhoea.  I have now become quite friendly with my toilet seeing so much of it today.

Nobody tells you what to expect so I am truly hoping this bout doesn't last long.

I really have no idea what to expect next. My CT Scan is on Wednesday, so hopefully will know more then.

    Hello hayash

To read peoples profiles click on their names in green at the top of their comment, not everyone fills them out but you can see the info if there is any. Welcome from me, it is a difficult journey but once you start the treatment path it gets a bit easier mentally. I find waiting and not knowing the worst bit. You sort of get used to it as time passes

  • Welcome to the club no one wants to join! I was diagnosed on 1 Feb last year at the colonoscopy, so I am a year down the line. See my profile. My bowels always seem to err towards constipation but occasionally they went for a sudden bout, so I guess you are normal!?

All the best with your CT scan, and your journey, lots of friendly ears on here, so ask away.

  • Hi  sorry you find yourself here but welcome! Look st my profile for my bio. Your recent bowel problem is very likely stress. I know it’s difficult but do try to relax. Keep busy. You can’t change anything by worrying, that’s been my mantra over the last year! That, & stay positive. It really helps. Wishing you luck as you start your journey, we’re all here for you. x

Wow you have been through the mill. So pleased you are now back to your old self, shall we say.

Thank you for words of encouragement.

My story seems so insignificant compared to others.
When I had my colonoscopy last week and got the news I was absolutely devastated but next day after breaking news to my sons I thought must stay positive.  So I am trying very hard to do so. this site and all the new friends I am making is really helping me.
    Thank you everyone x

    Hi

I was diagnosed 1 Feb this year (yesterday). seems I need to have a scan and they took biopsy’s.  I have had no symptoms.
the dr said it will be six weeks before I know what will happen. So scared.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the board from me too. Yes it’s a terrible shock and that, coupled with a good handful of worry, is probably what’s causing your diarrhoea.

These first few early weeks are difficult as you seem to spend your time waiting for appointment, scans, results etc. but things will feel a bit better once you have a treatment plan in place.

My main advice for now would be to stay away from google - the information is out of date and downright scary in places so stay on here and/or the Bowel Cancer uk Board. Bowel Cancer is very treatable nowadays and we’re all at different stages so happy to share advice and experience.

Please let us know how you’re getting on and ask anything you want - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing on here! If you want me to send you a booklet about potential treatment then please let me know - some people like to know about what may lie ahead whereas others prefer to wait for meetings and find things out on a need to know basis - it’s entirely up to you.

    Take care
