Hi everyone

Have any of you that have already had your surgery any experience of this? I’ve been told I can eat up to six hours before my surgery! All of the hospital sites say no food the day before surgery after around 9am. I did ask a nurse on the phone and she said I could eat low residue food until six hours before!

hi i had APR surgery just under three weeks ago, my surgery was due between nine and ten on wednesday morning,i was told to go on a low residue diet for two days prior to op, and nothing to eat after nine pm the night before op, what i found strange was no bowel prep before op, and no enema on the day,  john.

  • Thanks John! I was so stressed out this morning with all of the conflicting advice I’d been given. I spoke to one of our wonderful colorectal nurses, and she confirmed what you had said. Really appreciated your input.
