Hi ,

I'm  new to this group, but have but have been  battling with  colon cancer since August 2015. Last year after a routine  scan they found that the cancer had spread and it was now  in both lungs . I was told it was inoperable,  as you can imagine both me and my family  were devastated and still are.  I've had 2 lots of  chemo   and radiotherapy , none have worked successfully.  I'm now at the stage of being given Lonsurf as a third  line treatment .

My question is  has anyone else been offered this drug , and what is it like.? As an effective  treatment  to hold the cancer at bay.

Sorry for such a long winded explanation , but its the only way  i can explain  myself .

  • Hi

I just want to welcome you to the forum . I am sorry to hear that your previous treatment has not had the desired effect .

Strangely enough another poster has just asked the same question . If you use the search function you can pull up previous threads . Some people do find it doable and do seem to get benefit from it . Purely from observation I think some people find the side effects rough but I think you would also have to factor in their general health before starting that treatment . You will be able to read of one recent poster whose husband has had good results and finds it doable . There seems to be a subset of patients that do very well with it and keeps things stable .

Just wondered if you have looked into  Immunotherapy . Some patients seem to be able to access it though it may be through clinical trial .

Glad you joined us and hope we can be of some help to you .

    take care ,
