Hi
has anybody out there ever had endosponge treatment , I am having it now , so far I have had it refitted 5 times and counting , each time I have to go to theatre I am out for about 1 hour and go home same day, would like to know roughly how many more times would be needed
Hi nothappyanymore. I’ll be honest - I’d never heard of this and had to google it so as you can imagine I can’t answer your question! I did however have an infected fluid build up after my Resection - I think it was about 4/5 weeks after and I had a drain in my right buttock which, as you say, is extremely uncomfortable. To be honest it seemed to go on for quite a while despite them saying that they’d aspirated most of it out when they put the drain in. Eventually the drain sections kept coming apart so they jammed another bag on and coincidentally nothing came through after that. Despite my reservations they decided that the collection had gone and removed the drain after 5 weeks. Had a scan about a month later to find that there was still some there but they decided to start my chemo anyway and hope that the body dispersed the collection naturally by monitoring my CRP (infection) marker which eventually came down to normal.
Sorry I’ve not been much help but hopefully the endosponge coupled with your body’s natural abilities will clear it up before too long
Take care
