Hi there
i had treatment Christmas 2016 (aged 33) for stage three bowel cancel and had a high anterior resection followed by chemo.
I am lucky in that this experience for me is now in the rear view mirror but I do live with some long term side effects and I was interested if any one else has experienced these and how long it continued for...
1) fat accumulation around the stomach that is hard to shift and also a shelf like layer of fat. People give up their seat on the train to me thinking that I’m pregnant. No amount of exercise seems to shift it.
2) fatigue. Still after all this time I get exhausted some days for no real reason
3) so much wind. I pass it very frequently and don’t find that I have the control to be as discreet that I did before treatment
Thanks in advance
Hi , well done in your recovery! I have all 3 after effects, and more. ( see my profile, too much to go into now) I am in the sane timescake as you. Talking to others, I think the fatigue improves but the rest doesn't! On my down days I remind myself I an very lucky to be in remission (for now) Also lucky that I did not have to deal with it as young as you.
Good luck x
