Hi ,
I hear what you are saying . My mum had a significant spread to her liver with absolutely no symptoms, the picture of health and her liver panels were still normal !!!
I think the body is still able to compensate for a long time then the disease reaches a tipping point and symptoms start to show but certainly not rapidly . It can take a long time .
Has your husband looked into Immunotherapy?
Treatments like Keytruda are getting some good results for MSI patients and some MSS patients with a high tumour mutation burden . Just in case it has not been mentioned .
I hope your husband keeps his strength up for a long time .

Thank you Court, for taking the time to reply to me. You would think that as his liver is covered in cancer he would be slightly yellow or in pain. But he's not.
I thought as it's now spread to his lungs, he would be in pain, but he isn't
It's just so hard to look at him, and understand the prognosis that they have given to us.
I'm going to look into Keytruda, and Thanks again.
I found it strange too but it also sounds as though his body is still strong and functioning well .
It is harder to access keytrunda in the UK but there was some clinical trials at one point . You might also like to link into Bowelcanceruk and see if their nurse had any information on it .
I think it’s worth looking into when you see what some American patients have achieved .

Hi there
I'm new to this aswell ...my husband is 52 and the exact same thing has happened to us ...rectum tumour spread to bowel and aorta...hes just finished 3 months of chemotherapy and we find out next Tuesday if it's worked...he has a stoma but they say it's not feesable to operate so it's just palliative chemo....I'm so scared about what happens next I really don't think I can cope if it's more bad news ...I know what you're going through its heartbreaking xxx
Hi ,
Welcome to the Bowel forum too and all the very best for the scan results . Have you been tracking his CEA tumour markers?
If you have not done so you might like to have a look at Keytruda also . I always found it helpful to know what other options were available. But just to encourage you my mum became operable through chemo so hold on tight and I hope it opens up other options .
Immunotherapy is just emerging here in the UK but America is a bit ahead and some patients are responding well .
Take care,

Thankyou so much for that ...we have asked about immunotherapy but have been told it's not suitable for what my husband has .our oncologist has said it's not been trialled here yet on bowel cancer ...we would literally try anything but here's hoping this chemo works ...hes been on oxyplatin and cabesticine so here hoping it's done some good
Thanks a lot Court
