Hi my dad is in the final stage for bowel/liver cancer. He was told earlier in the year that he had about 2 months left. He has managed with the symptoms so far but recently he has deteriorated. He is now spending a lot of time in bed napping/resting and eating very little. I don’t really know what to think. From anyone’s experience how long would you say he has left?
Hi BBM234
How awful for you all, unfortunately I don't have any experience to offer you other than ask his Dr or GP if they can give you any idea. Blood tests will give them an idea of how much liver function he has remaining and whether other organs are starting to struggle such as his kidneys. As long as he is taking fluids he won't get too dehydrated. I don't think that anyone on here can give you a realistic idea of how long he has left as everyone is different and has a different experience of death of their loved ones. Be guided by his carers if he has any or Drs.
Nicky
Hi ,
There is a thread on the secondary liver group . It is graphic but some people find it unhelpful . On the other hand others find some comfort in being prepared and reading how others have coped at each stage .
I am truly sorry and wish strength for you all as you face this .
Take care,
Court
