    Hi

The answer is I don't know but I would imagine it is unlikely for the traveling part. I will say we have a holiday home in northern Spain and I have never been asked for any proof of my health status when traveling, but then again I usually fly. My EHIC Card works for basic emergency health care abroad assuming that we are pre-BREXIT. There have been previous discussions on here about getting holiday insurance after cancer if you want it, you might have to search for those posts. I don't know if those insurance companies might need some sort of Drs note. I just use my EHIC card.

I am sorry I can't help any more but enjoy your trip

  • I was operated on in late Jan'18.  Since then have been lucky enough to travel to Italy, Spain, SE Asia, S. America & Russia.  Not trying to brag - but shows wide travel is entirely feasible.  Just make sure you have the necessary insurance - choose a provider that specialises in medical cover - for a year round all areas cover we're paying about £200 pa.  I've never required a Dr's note.

    Good luck & enjoy France

  • Hi

That's good to hear that you're clear of bowel cancer!

When travelling abroad some travel insurance providers will ask for a letter from your doctor which says that you are well enough to travel.

If you haven't got insurance yet and you want some recommendations then you could join the travel insurance group where you can find recommendations for reasonably priced insurance from other members. If you do join, then look for the thread called 'Recommended Travel Insurance' as it's where we try to keep all the recommendations.

I hope you have a lovely time in France.

Appreciate your assistance. Travel Insurance was not a problem, the letter from the Doctor was, due to tele staff, who reckoned it would take 3wks to a month to obtain, I contacted another Doctor, received letter within 24hrs! Reception staff need to take note.
