Hi
I've had a lump in my lower abdomen for a few months which has recently increased significantly in size - it's now about the size of my fist. I know I should have gone earlier but I tried to believe it was nothing. I've had urgent bloods which have come back with a CEA marker of 8 and I've been booked into the Colo-rectal clinic on 17th. The waiting is the hard thing - I can't seem to keep my mind on anything and sleeping is very hit and miss.
Hi ,
Just want to pop on and welcome you to the forum . People are great here and will pop on and share their experience which I think will reassure you .
The good thing about Bowel cancer is it’s really treatable and has many options if it turns out to be that . You are well in your way to getting it sorted . Everyone reports this to be one of the hardest parts , once you know the plan it seems to ease .
They will be along shortly . I am here because of my mum . She had no symptoms and a late stage diagnosis. But that being said her treatment was great at sorting it all out .
Even as a carer I had to practice hard at keeping my mind where my body was and not making assumptions.
Take care ,

Hi and a warm welcome to the board from me too.
Yes this waiting for scans and meetings is very stressful but things will feel a little bit better once you have a treatment plan in place. In the mean time please do not google - the information is out of date and misleading at times - you can ask anything you want on here - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing.
A CEA marker of 8 is pretty low and, if it is Bowel Cancer, then it is very treatable nowadays especially if caught early.
I won’t tell you not to worry because we’ve all been in your shoes but just try to keep busy and maybe see your doctor if the sleeping gets really bad?
Take care and please let us know how your appointment goes
