    Hi Fortis,

I had my APR in September 2012, and was back at work the following January. I won't lie to you, it was hard-going at times. Over time your body will recover from the surgery, but it does do it at it's own rate! I found I had a short attention span during the early days, and I was very tired too. Listen to your body. I have a permanent colostomy and had to learn to deal with a stoma. But over time, it did get better. I'm happy to say that as I type this, I am sitting on a sofa, just like I used to - no pain, no discomfort. So it does get better! Take each day a day at a time, set yourself small goals to aim for. As for riding a motorbike... I honestly don't know about that! But, you'll never know till you try it. Only YOU can decide.

    Good luck for your operation!

    Linda :-)

  • Thank you for your reply. And i will update about bike thingy in future.

I have just (last Thursday) had a laparoscopic APeR.

The surgery went without problem. I was in theatre for about 6 hours & can't speak highly enough of the surgeons & anaesthetist - I've needed no painkillers (apart from the occasional paracetamol) since. I was eating on the night post-op  and walking around the morning after.

The perineal wound is healing well & stoma working as it should.

My ongoing concern is also sitting - I'm currently looking at the kneeling chairs to see if they may be useful??

Please feel free to get in touch if you want to ask anything at allHandshakeSunglasses
