Hi my hubby and I just talking, he has his last Radiotherapy session tomorrow, it's been 5 weeks radiotherapy, there is a bell on the wall and we hear people ringing it, now we assume you ring the bell when you have a clear of cancer result, but been reading some ring at the end of treatment.
my hubby is not at the end of treatment, as the treatment plan is the usual 8/10 weeks then scans mri and MDT and then whatever the results are.....
so what have others done, or intend to do?.........feels good to have this staged almost ticked off.....
good luck to everyone on this forum.....xx
Hi process . Hope you don't mind me jumping in from another group, but I have had my fair share of radiotherapy. I didn't have a bell to ring, but I believe it announces the end of the treatment. Finishing radiotherapy can be quite emotional. You feel as though you are saying goodbye to friends and staff you have met over the weeks. Wishing your husband good results. Best wishes.
Hi no don't mind at all you popping over from another group, I positively welcome you. And thanks for taking the time.
its strange, I'm not the patient but have gone with him on most days. It's odd how it's become "normal to go each day" yet not normal at all, but it does feel a milestone, want to get back to some kind of ordinary normal if you get my drift?
thank you for your best wishes for him xxx
Hi process. Yes I know what you mean - it’s the end of Stage 1 but there may still be some more treatment to come. I know some people have radiotherapy after surgery so it may be the last step for them and everyone in the waiting room claps.
What did I do? Hubby came over to meet me, mobile phone camera at the ready, waited for final meeting with person monitoring the trial that I was under ........ then set off home completely forgetting to ring them bell!
Whatever you choose to do it deserves a form of celebration - tell your hubby a big well done from me please
Take care
Karen x
Hi Karen that made me smile sort of thing we would do,
Actual just seen on the news that there was an event on this morning and people walking through Manchester all ringing bells, it was promoting ring a bell event for peace initiative by Yoko Ono and actually it links in well with ringing the bell at end of treatment in that it can be linked to Peace in regard to ending whatever stage of treatment for cancer and hope for peace within.
thanks for your support and understanding xxx
