Hi Everyone.
I have not been diagnosed with bowl cancer but have just been referred by my GP to see a Gastroenterologist.
I have a family history of bowl cancer and having a number of symptoms that could indicate it. I I have just realised I have lost a fair bit of weight and that has freaked me out.
I know it not certain but my head is all over the place and I fear I have ignored the symptoms over a period of time.
Kind Regards
David
Hi ,
Welcome to the forum . It would amaze you the amount of people that pass through here with symptoms that are genuinely concerning , they submit themselves to the process and thankfully the vast majority don’t have cancer but another condition that requires the right intervention for them .
You are doing exactly what people here would recommend in getting checked out . The fortunate thing about Bowel cancer is that it is very treatable when caught early . Just to reassure you my mum was a late stage diagnosis and is still doing well ten years later .
Having tests is very difficult and if you need help from your GP to get through it then I would recommend it . You can also phone our helpline . 0808 808 00 00 .
take care and all the very best .

Hi David and a warm welcome to the board from me too. As Court says there are a lot of things that can cause similar symptons to Bowel Cancer and the best (and most reassuring ) thing to do is get checked out. In the mean time do not be tempted to google - Wait until you have a proper diagnosis then get any support you need from specialist sites.
If it does turn out to be Bowel Cancer then it is very treatable nowadays - I was diagnosed at stage 3 and I’m over 2 years clear now.
Please keep us updated and let us know how you get on
Take care
Karen x
Thanks Court for replying and sharing your thoughts it has helped my anxiety a bit.
What I'm kind of tormenting myself with is trying to figure out how long I have had symptoms as I have a a very hectic and busy few months.
I do take your point though about trying not to jump the gun and keep an open mind on what is happening.
Thanks
David
Thanks Karen for replying and sharing your thoughts. It has been helpful.
I replied to Court's post as well.

Hi Again
I had quite a rough night physically and found difficult talking with my wife about my worries as she gets upset too.
I think the awareness of losing weight like seeing my face in the mirror looking thinner and my watch not fitting freak me out. All this putting my anxiety through the roof.
I have an appt on the 14th with the Colorectal team and seeing my GP on Tuesday but really struggling today
Kind Regards
David
