Hiya!
I went for a colonoscopy yesterday because I had been having a few problems with 'loose stools. Recently diagnosed as a diabetic (type 2) and quite a bit over weight. I'm a GP's receptionist to quite used to seeing reports from endoscopy and quite good at understanding what the reports mean.
So .... I go for my colonoscopy and within the first few minutes it was very evident that there was something 'large on the screen. And at that point it was very painful. They stopped the colonoscopy, got me dressed and gave me a cup of tea. Called my husband in and said they would be discharging me.
Then they told me it was a 7cm lesion, 20cm in. It is blocking 50% of my bowel. They said they were really sorry. I've now got to have a CT scan this week and also an MRI and then it will be discussed at an MDT meeting.
Because I'm fat .... let's be honest ... I have had some pain in my nether regions but thought that my fatness was causing problems with my hips!
So ... I'm on this journey!!! The family have decided that the 'lesion will be know as Fred the Boglin who resides in my bum!
I'm positive but scared .... keep having little crying fits ... but also lots of laughter! Yes, I'm frightened, but I will have whatever comes next head on!
Love to all.

Hi
Just thought I’d say hi and welcome to the group, though sorry you find yourself here. It sounds as if things are moving quickly and I hope your scan appointments come through very soon. The waiting is the worst part of everything.
Once you have a treatment plan in place you’ll no doubt feel better.
There’s a wealth of helpful advice in this group and I’m sure others will be along soon to say hello. It’s probably a bit quiet being a Saturday evening
Ask any questions here and there’ll probably be some advice and suggestions for you. Everyone says not to Google! Just look for info on MacMillan and other bowel cancer sites
All best wishes
Liz
Everything is rosy in the garden.
Hi Nic and a warm welcome from me too. Glad you’ve joined the board - we’re all at different stages - some just starting out, some halfway through, some finished and getting on with life - but we’re all happy to share experience and advice.
Hopefully your scans will come through pretty quickly and once you have a treatment plan in place then things will feel a bit better as you’ll have an idea of what lies ahead.
As Liz says do not google - the information is out of date, misleading and downright scary in places. Please do not be concerned about the size of the tumour - it is not an indicator of seriousness. Bowel Cancer is very treatable nowadays and although the treatment can be tough at times it is also doable.
Ask anything you want on here - there is no question too embarrassing or too silly. The positive head with lots of laughter will help get you through this as will your family and friends and your new friends on this board.
Let us know how you get on
Take care

ps tell Fred not to get too comfy - his days are numbered!
Just want to say hello Nic, I can't offer much in the way of advice as I'm a relatively new on here to, but I will say that I have had lots of support from people on here and been warmly welcomed by others including the ones who have already replied to you. It really helps.
good luck and I hope your not waiting too long for tests etc, it's my hubby that has rectal cancer not me, discovered at screening end of march he has start date for his treatment of this Wednesday 1st May....you may or may not have similar timescale, he is not having surgery first but radiotherapy and chemo to hopefully shrink tumour before surgery.
best wishes xx
