TENtastic - Stage 4

Delighted to report that it looks like my mum will make ten years as a stage 4 patient . Her oncologist agreed to her getting travel insurance so I am interpreting that as the scans being good . Still to meet her .

I have to be honest her CEA has been sitting at 5.4 for six months and she had a bad winter . I thought it was possibly back .

I read recently that some patients with a spread to the liver are still not getting to specialists liver MDT meetings . Surgery can improve survival over 30% so please ensure your scans are reviewed by experts . That’s been my message for over eight years and I know some people are concerned to offend their oncologist but it is worth asking .

As ever our thoughts are with all in treatment .

Take special care,

Court

That's fantastic!!  Wonderful for your whole family and your mom, and also for the CRC community at large - it gives us hope!  I found that reading forums is a lot better for my well being than reading the scientific lit - I do it anyway, but often studies are based on autopsies (ugh) and older cases that do not reflect the most recent advances in treatments.

Thank you Court for being so active and supportive on this forum!

  • Oh Court what wonderful news I am delighted for you for your lovey mum for all your family and to this community.

i lost both my mum and dad to this dreadful disease. I share your joy in celebrating life with it.

You know I only recently joined the community but such wonderful sharing, you could have left the group but stayed offering your experience and your joys and triumphs such as today’s.  Where there is life there is hope and you spread it well

ThankIng God and you for determination and encouragement

  • Thank you everyone . I am very relieved she does not have more to endure just now .

This community held me up when I needed it . I learnt how to get other specialists involved and it made a difference . We have a debt we could never pay back to all the staff and people that played a part in getting her to where she is today including a fantastic GP .

Treatment has changed now and I can’t participate in that area but thankfully others here do that wonderfully .
