Hi everyone. My first post. =)

OK, I'll try keeping in brief. I just want advice, as I'm little scared right now.

Between June and August, I lost 9kgs. (Which for most, I certainly can't account for). In this period, I started having bloody stools, not regularly, quite inconstant. However I do have piles, which the doctor checked and was happy with. Fair enough. (Blood was a bright red shade).
Then in August, I got UTI-like symptoms. A tingle behind the navel, which made me want to urinate a lot and flank pain in the lower back. I was prescribed antibiotics.(Nitrofurantoin) as they could only find white blood cells in my urine (4 times, no bacteria found). Weird. The tingle still exists (on and off) and the back pain comes and goes too. Nowhere near as bad as when it first came on.
However, as expected my stools changed on the antibiotics. (I've been on antibiotics now for 6 weeks). But something else happened, my whole body ended with weird muscle spams, weakness in muscles and random pain. Very unusual, which I'm guessing is a neurological reaction? On top, my Coccyx is really painful now. Doctor put that down to weight loss and you lose a gel-like substance? Which can cause trauma to that area?

As of now, I still have slight muscle weakness in body, inconsistent stools (maybe medication), blood doesn't appear in my stools too much as hemorrhoids aren't so bad right now, I've managed to gain another 4-6kgs. But that fluctuates as I do suffer stress and anxiety. (I do eat a lot o junk food).

I'm extremely worried. Because all this in a short space seems a little hard to explain. I am booked for Colonoscopy, which is where I believe they'll find their answer.

Doctors are reassured. But I'm not. Yes, blood tests came back "normal" ad 2 stool samples too. But I can't help but think there's something seriously wrong, you know your body.

Anyways, any information would be great. Thank you!

  • Hi KCrotten

Welcome to the forum.  You’ll find lots of sympathy and support here.

I don’t know about your particular symptoms but I do know that having a colonoscopy will tell the medics if you need to worry about bowel cancer and might explain why you’ve been feeling rotten, or at least rule out the bowel as an area of worry. I think unexpected weight loss is always a cause for concern.

I hope you don’t have to wait too long for your colonoscopy.  The waiting and worrying is always the worst part!

    Good luck
