Hello

Has anyone experienced Irinotecan via injection?

Will I be on it for long? I've had TEMS procedure which I believe went well but have to have a round of the stated medication.

Anyone help?

Sorry to be vague x

Hi, I have had it as part of treatment. The first time I had it it took 90 mins for the bag to be given. Every session thereafter they tend to do it for 60 mins .

Hope that helps and good luck

  • Hi . This is a pretty old post and it doesn’t look like they are still active on the board. I’m going to tag  and  to see if they can help you? x

Sorry its folinic acid  spell correctly this time lol xx

  • Hi  I had both the regimes you mentioned above although I had cetuximab which I believe is similar to panitumumab. I personally found the irinotecan, 5fu + cetuximab combination more manageable than the oxaliplatin.  No cold sensations and a lot less nausea. Just keep an eye on your skin as the pani can cause dry skin, rashes or spots.  They will give you moisturiser to use, I had pliazon and they also gave me hydrocortisone cream and antibiotics.  Now the weather is getting better, be very careful in the sun and wear sun block.

As for the pump, it was fine and you get used to it. They gave me a bum bag to pop it in and the district nurse came out after 48 hours to disconnect.

Thanks for the tag, hope you are well.

    Good luck.xx
