Possible peritoneum mets and ovary

Hi I posted recently as I was anxiously awaiting results from a CT scan after something was seen on my liver. This is 12 months after finishing 8 rounds of chemo and having an extended right hemi. I had 5 nodes affected and my tumour was a T4a: The liver they said was ok but then she said they have seen areas of change in the peritoneum and something on an ovary and they don’t know what it is. I have an appointment next week with the surgeon and they want to to an exploratory operation to see what is going on. I’m really devastated and can’t get my head round it all. I’m 47 with an 8 year old daughter and I just can’t face going through more of this. I don’t even know if there is any hope of it even being a benign area. Is it usual to do an exploratory operation like this? Thanks for reading. Any words of reassurance would be great - I’m so anxious and upset by it xx

  • Hi

So sorry you have this to go through . I am

not too sure what type of operation this is but it is very understandable to be upset .

Can I suggest you go onto bowl cancer U.K. site and connect with their stage four group as it’s pretty active and there will be people there with a potential spread in that area that might be able to assist you more accurately.

I know a few people consulted with a Mr Murphy in London from this site and he was able to read their scans very quickly . His name comes up a lot with Hipec surgery for a peritoneal spread sound it turn out to be that but there are other areas that run centres of excellence for anything to do with the peritoneal area and they are very highly skilled .

Just to encourage you for a long time I used to communicate with a young man who had a peritoneal spread . He got successful surgery and not only returned to his normal life but has another child . At his tenth year anniversary of being clear he came back to say hi I am doing well .

Just a wee but encouragement to get you through this part .

Do you know your cell type ?  Remember some people are now suitable for immunotherapy too .

    Lots of developments .

But I totally get that this is a terrible time when the information is being gathered .

Get as much support around you just now and you will get to the other side of this process and get a good plan in place .

    Take care ,
