Hi everyone,

Posting on behalf of my husband who has T3N1M0 colon cancer which is very low near his rectum.
Now after 4 weeks (20 sessions) of chemo/radiotherapy treatment he is getting a very sore bum hole (sorry he’s says it’s like sunburn where the sun don’t shine)

He has been given Flamigel but has been told not to put it on before treatment but everything he’s looked up says its to stop the burn on treatment and just don’t put it on right before treatment. He also has a moisturiser but that does need quite a bit of rubbing in and it’s too sore to do that. Which is best ? what is the advice others have been given? Any suggestions to ease the burn please.
thank you from a concerned wife Grinning

  • Hi  Has he still got another week of chemo radiotherapy to go? If so tell him to speak to the radiographers as there are some creams that shouldn’t be used (like ones that contain zinc oxide). I was given Cavilon to use by the hospital but was lucky not to suffer with any sore skin really. If it’s loose bowels that’s causing the soreness and he’s finished his radiotherapy then a baby’s nappy rash cream can help

    Take care
