Hello
My dad was diagnosed with cancer 3 weeks ago after having a routine FIT screening. They found a 7cm tumour within the rectum. He has had a MRI and CT scan done and is now awaiting results. Can anyone tell me how long we will be waiting for news or could I hear anyone else’s experiences please. I’m going out of my mind and very worried. Just want to get the results so that he can start treatment as soon as possible!
Hi Xx00xX and a warm welcome to the board. Yes the waiting for results is very stressful but once there is a treatment plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better. The scan results may vary in time from area to area but once back then your dad’s case will be discussed at the Multi Disciplinary Team and a treatment plan will be decided on. Your dad will then be invited to discuss it with his consultant.
Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but very treatable so hopefully your dad will hear something very soon. The next few months will be tough but please keep posting and we’ll help and support you all through this
Take care
