Hello

Is there anyone that has got/had bowel cancer that has spread and now on chemo folfox but also a target drug that helps too. I hear good things about the target drugs so just looking for experience. Thanks Dankel

  • Did not work the first time but this covers some of the targeted drugs and hopefully others will give you some relevant experience.

  • Hello,

My husband was on Folfir and the targeted therapy Cetuximab for 2 years. Apparently the longest patient on this treatment under his consultant!

It was bearable and he has so far continued to work, albeit with three hospital appointments every other week and the 46 hour pump.
Main issues were mouth ulcers and the usual suspect rash, along with fatigue at times.

However sadly it has just stopped working. Probably Avastin and Longsurf next.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Ps, , I should point out that my husband is deemed incurable and inoperable, but it certainly has up until now kept him stable.

I know this is lung related but we know Alison personally and new drugs always give us all hope.

  • Hi Loomeytunes

Thank you for your reply, that’s great that it helped your husband for a couple of years though, seems to be lots of different drugs that can be tried so hopefully he finds another good one that helps him. Goodluck.

yes my Dad is the same they won’t operate either, I mentioned this drug cetuximab to the oncologist but she said it wouldn’t be right to use that as it wouldn’t help but said firsr line is folfox then they try second line treatments which is a target drug but can’t remember which ones she mentioned but won’t be cetuximab for some reason.

thank you for your reply xx
