Hi

just looking for some reassurance if that’s the right word? My mum had bowl cancer 3 years ago - surgery and 6 months of chemo tablets - then last year she had to have some lung removed from a metastasis and now yesterday her latest routine ct scan showed a liver mass with a query over enlarged uterus ( could be fibroids they said)and something on pancreas (could be cyst they said?) now to go for mri - I’m spiralling - I just can’t believe it’s back again and how can we be lucky that they can sort it for a third time - so scared

  • Hi

So sorry to hear about your mum . It hurts for sure . It does seem to be the nature of treating it like a chronic condition . My mum went in and out of treatment for 15 years . The hope is always they can stabilise it or control it and add in other options if possible . But saying that my mum after the first few years was able to get years in between with nothing and they were bliss . She had four recurrences .
However it does mean digging deep for you all as she goes through more treatments and we are definitely here to support you all as you navigate it again .

How does she cope with chemo ?

    Take care ,

  • Thank you so much for replying- she has only had the chemo tablets before and she was ok with them - it’s just waiting for a plan - I just want them to sort it now rather than give it more time to grow etc just feels like the ground is pulled from under us again

  • My mum’s oncologist explained to us that there was no immediate rush and to be honest there was even a couple of months for surgery at one point . I was a nervous wreck . It really is a testing time for sure . Do you have a lot of support around you ?

It drains you for sure but hopefully they will get things moving for her soon .

Hopefully she will get the right treatment plan to put this back in remission .

Take care and here to chat at any time .
