My mum was told last week that she has colorectal cancer with mats in the liver and lungs.
It has come out of the blue. She was taken into hospital after feeling weak and tired and high blood sugar. Now apart from anaemia she is well in herself.
She had a biopsy on Friday on the cells in her liver. This will confirm that the primary cancer is in the colon and determine next steps.
from scans they cannot see that it has gone into the lymph nodes
Mum has diabetes and chronic kidney disease so we don’t know what options will be. They are also still trying to raise her haemoglobin levels.
This is all such a shock and so hard to get our heads around. our minds are overwhelmed and over thinking about the worse.
Hi Hope prey welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear about what is happening for you and your family. It's little wonder you are reeling, shock, uncertainty, and disbelief are all part of this horrible disease. I know it's easy for me to say but try not to think the worst. When all the results and tests are back they will sit down with you as a family, if that's what mum wants, and go through the plan with you. It's this limbo period that is the worst but just take a day at a time and that will hopefully get you through this challenging time. Thinking of you and sending hugs your way for now.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
