hi

We have a first meeting on monday to discuss plan. what can we expect?

feeling anxious nervous a bit sick and so much more.

  • Hi  I’ve attached a link to a booklet that i was given at my first meeting which will give you a bit of a heads up and help with jargon, questions etc.

The consultant will discuss the results of the scans and the treatment plan that has been decided on. Take a pen and paper with you to jot down a few notes and any questions that you have - there can be a lot to take in although I also met with my colorectal support nurse immediately after and she checked that I’d understood everything.

Once you have the treatment plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better. Please let us know how you get on?

    Take care

  • Thanks, it’s all a blur at the moment, was diagnosed last thursday and we feel that it’s all unreal, but very real at the same time.

aim sure that once we have a plan we have something to focus on xx

  • Hi Tesco

It is surreal, I felt like I was looking in from the outside...... My meeting with the consultant was excellent, put my mind at rest, measured up for a stoma which thankfully wasn't needed.... laparoscopic anterior resection procedure explained, recovery time and aftercare also discussed.

    Take care

    ..

  • Thanks for being there, my hubby is very scared which is understandable. So I do all the research and then drip feed the info into a casual conversation.

It also stops me from letting my inner fears surface, otherwise i think i may fall apart xx

  • Hi Tesco

It's natural to be very scared

My wife walked every step with me, my rock, tough journey, we have little choice. You are so right once the treatment plan is in place it does give us something to focus on.

Take care and best of luck

    Peter
