Hi

im taking the above chemo for secondary bowel cancer. Plus anti emetics I’ve had a rougher reaction than my last treatment cycle (this is my second)

For the past 4 nughts  I’ve had very grim,  violent &  florid  nightmares. Has anybody else has this ?

it makes me want to seriously avoid going back to sleep . I only had 3 hours sleep last night. I’m not sure what to do and any advice welcome.

Thanks

Graham

  • Hi

Those nightmares sound horrible and it must make getting enough sleep very difficult. I'm wondering if it could be the medication causing this. Have you spoken to your hospital team about your nightmares?

I'm not a member of this forum but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I hope the nightmares stop soon and you're able to get a good night's sleep.

  • Hi Graham

In a nutshell yes, I slept with the light on for quite a while, kept dreaming that a chinese alien space ship was coming to get me for some reason! In hindsight I now think it was anxiety buggering my sleep up. Go o the Drs or your team, tell them whats happening, squeeky wheel gets oiled first!

  • Hi Graham,

I’ve suffered for years, I’d say possibly more related to cancer anxiety (I know mine are worse now than they were).

I find that writing them down afterwards can help.  I never read them back but just writing down what the dream was often gets rid of them for a while.

    I hope that helps.
